That's been done elsewhere and also amalgamation
But I'll suggest a little organisational change
I know that the destination forums are in an alphabetical array but there's some logical dissaray especially with Europe, Island, London and ME separating (ironically one could say) the Americas or some of it.
Could I suggest that in sticking with the alpha arrangement, it also be done by continent as it is in part, ie.
Africa is from N-S
Likewise Asia-Bali
Australasia is W-E (Oh well!)
And Europe is (well Europe)
But putting Americas in after Africa, with N - S
North, Caribbean, Central and South or whatever makes it all more logically consistent with the total section.

Now keep the mind open people, for I believe this next bit resolves some of the hodge podge too many thoughts.
Reckon after Destinations, there could be something like Travelling Ways or Way to Go, containing:
Adventure Travel
Eco Travel
RTW & Vagabonding
Student
The Spiritual Traveller
Volunteering and Working abroad
(should be a little caveat on this group to remind people to also use destination forums when their topic is destination specific)

Then for Community it's
BootsnAll Members
Best of Boards
Beyond Backpacking
Chit Chat
Corporate Wasteland
Feedback
Still Going
Supporting Boots
Travel Articles
Travel Blogs
Travel Photography etc. (though could be separated)
Travel Writing

Andf then I'd change that Other Travel Related Stuff, just for a touch of professionalism to Supporting Travellers or something like so with a meaningful heading.
- and that's where photographic gear could be split from posting etc.

GN, we're actually thinking about doing a bit of re-org on the boards in terms of how they're laid out, so your post is well-timed. And don't mind me if I swipe some of your ideas...
