Hey does anyone know if Mid July through the end of July is a good time to go Trinadad/Tobago? I'm not sure if we would be hitting the hurricane season or if Tobago is far enough south to be a safe bet in terms of wather.

I'm really looking for a good inexpensive lay around on the beach, snorkel and drink beer kind of trip to take around mid July. I'm meeting up with a friend from NY and I'm coming from LA so we were hopeing to find someplace that would be good to meet without one of us having to be on a plane for 20 hours, otherwise I would just head towards Southeast Asia.

Any recomendations/suggestions for places to go that time of year would be appreciated.

Trinidad and Tobago are south of where most hurricanes hit, but that an extremely hot time of year (the hottest, in fact). I would suggest the Cook Islands as a rational, interesting alternative: only 10 hours from LA.
