This is a new thread for Caribbean/West Indies warnings. It is to be used for Caribbean/West Indies-specific warnings only. Warnings include instances of robbery in a certain part of a city, bad hostel experiences, etc. As a content-rich thread, we do not want any back-and-forth or questions. Please direct all questions via Private Messages (Click on "Go" in the left hand corner, select "My Space" and then "Private Messages") to the poster. You can also issue a PM by clicker on the poster's name and selecting "Private Message." Any post that does not contribute relevant information will be deleted. Examples include: responses to previous posts in the thread and questions. The information can be on any city, region or country in Caribbean/West Indies. When reading these experiences, please remember that there are two sides to every story and warnings should be issued sparingly.

I am writing to advise Bootsnall members to avoid staying at Alablanca Apts in Curacao. It is located in a residential area far from any services so that one must absolutely have a car. No public transportation close either. Easy to get lost coming or going because of no straight streets and no poor signs. Worst is the staff who tried to raise room price after internet agreement. Airline lost luggage and I told clerk airline would call when they found it. Departed 4 days later without luggage and then found out airlines had called l day after arrival and told clerk to tell me since someone had to accept delivery personally. He never did nor did he tell airline so he could accept. BTW, apts do not have hot water, soap, or any amenity. When office is closed, there is a phone outside door with two numbers to call. One number is always busy, probably same number you are calling from and the second one does not accept calls from the phone you are using. It only accepts calls from a cellphone.
You have been warned.
