Who's been there recently?

If I went for 10 days would I run out of things to do?

How accessible is Tikal from Belize?

Linea Dorada runs a through bus from the Belize City Marine Terminal to Flores. From Cayo (San Ignatio) take a bus or taxi to the border, cross, and take a bus or van to Flores or El Remate and Tikal. I have been going there for years, for months at a time, and I haven't seen it all. Tikal ruins will take two days and the rest of Guatemala will keep you busy forever.

I was just in Tikal for Christmas. I hung out with a Canadian who had just spent weeks in Belize, got kinda bored, and spontaneously went into Guate to see Tikal. There is good bus service.

Flores is ok, worth spending 1 night. El Remate is very relaxing and the cheapest place I found in Guate.

Like Louis said, you can buy a ticket to Tikal after 3pm and use it again the next day. Get a tour guide at Tikal, or hook up with other people to do so.

Tikal area could get boring for 10 days, and other cities are about 8 hour bus ride away, so factor that in.

I like Flores, and Tikal has the most stunning ruins in Central America, but 10 days is a lot to spend there. Unless you take one of the multi-day hikes out to El Zotz or Mirador, in the Petén jungle, you´re go crazy with boredom. San Ignacio (Cayo), Belize is about three hours from there, and worth a visit.

If you´re coming from Belize City, you can get to Flores in about six hours - less if the border crossing at Melchor de Mencos is quiet.
