Hi, new to the site!!

My girlfriend and I are going to Cuba midway through June for a few weeks.

We are both from the UK.......

Some advice i need please, we are staying in 'Cayo Coco' area

some people have said it is rainy and hurricane saeson june-nov

is it really that bad??im worried in case i get there and it is rain for 2 weeks solid.

also what good travelling tips do you have, where to go etc??

we are both really excited and have read tons of books about going to Cuba, but want to get stories and advice from people who have actually been there

I don't know Cayo Coco.

Havana is an absolute gem of a city - you'd be better to base yourself there. Vinales is three hours west of Havana, and has some stunning scenery with pincushion hills everywhere. Trinidad is a few hours east of Havana, and my favorite smaller colonial city in the country.

June is early in the hurricane season, but you should probably be okay.

Bring lots of cash euros. There are parallel economies in Cuba. The hard currency economy operates on euros, while the local economy runs on Cuban pesos. You will get very few options to use the latter, so don't even worry about that. The food in the hard currency economy is bad enough that you won't even be tempted to know what it's like with pesos.

Try to stay in casas particulares. These are private homes, and a much better deal than government hotels. They are taxed very heavily, but by staying in them you'll at least be helping some of the very few private businesses Castro's execrable regime allows.
