Hey there i'm planning my RTW and i had planned on going to cuba for 3 or 4 weeks and then onto SA... thing is i can't get that flight on my RTW ticket as i'll be visiting the US too which is not allowed.
I could fly there seperate from mexico but the flights from cuba to SA are really expensive as i want to fly to argentina (600-700)

What other island could i hope to go to that would:
a) have a busy airport (the RTW package probably wouldnt include little islands as it's only 10 airlines... or would it?
b) Not to expensive i'll be on a backpackers budget.. hostels etc.
C) cool bars with opportunity to meet new people

Any ideas on how i could save money on going from mexico - caribbean - SA
Any replies would be a big help
Thanks alot..

Hello,

Try the Dominican Republic.
It will fit perfectly under your requirements.
From Santo Domingo you can jump to other
places in central and south america.

But you must get your Air tickets outside of
any banana republic (standard procedure).

Adios.

Hey the original plan was scraped and i'm now just flying into mexico and flying out of santiago 9 months later and i'm free to do as i please in between..

I was thinking 3 months central america (overland) and 6 months S.America.. ( including a 2 month volunteering stint)
Thing is i wold really like to visit Cuba..
I checked flights on Copa Air from cancun - cuba but it goes via panama for roughly $400 return.. I then checked them from Panama and it's closer to $600 ???

What would be the cheapest way to get to Cuba? Which country? Or if i could go via another caribbean island? Or should i just stick to central america as i'll be on a budget..??

It's just now is the time to go to Cuba..
Help!

As I know it is prohibited for U.S citizens to travel to Cuba. (Really not to travel, but spending money in CUba)
Certainly It is seen people go there even it is prohibited.

ALso The best and the safe way For U.S citizens to go there can be Caribbean Countries (For Example, Dominican Republic) And Canada Certainly.

But To Say True, I'm not sure about the prices. Personally, I never heard Habana travel Under 600 euros. I mean normal Comfortable Travel.
And My friend says that there are also American Companies Now (USA) that do Cuba Travel in a legal way (Seems There have been made changes in USA travel Law, Because There were a lot of complaints From travellers who wanted to Go To Cuba - I'm Not Sure about this change in law.)
