Post your favorite Caribbean/West Indes picture here, and give us a couple sentences about it. You can obviously link to any picture you find online, and it'd also be really cool if it was a picture you took while you were traveling in the Caribbean or West Indes!
To post a picture, click on the little picture icon on top of the reply window (between the envelope and the left & right pointy arrows on the right-hand side) and link to its URL - that means you've got to have it posted somewhere online already, whether that's your blog or a photo hosting site. To get the URL of the specific image, you can either click on the image to get a page with just that picture, or you can right-click on it, select "Properties" and copy & paste the URL listed there. Then, tell us a little bit about why that picture is so meaningful to you:
And anything else you'd like to share! Go for it, and have fun!! There are days in the cold & rainy Pacific Northwest when a beach like this one looks like a really, really good idea... Ciao, Jessie |

We actually stay at Lower Bay (more pictures to follow I'm sure) on the western side of the island, but we went over to Friendship Bay Hotel (on the eastern side) for the day with our children. We spent time on the beach and had lunch at the restaurant. The site of the 2 chairs and the blue/green sea just evoked a very relaxing feeling.. something I'll always remember from our trip to Bequia. I call it.. White Chairs on Blue Water |

This is the Beach at Lower Bay in Bequia, which is part of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I took this picture in April 2004 on our first visit there. the figures in the distance are my husband and children. There is a little pool formed by a small formation of coral and rocks right there by the beach. At high tide it makes a great pool for small children to swim in. |

Ok.. so it's not a picture of a destination in the Caribbean unless you consider that this is the Queen Mary 2 as she is pulling into the Port of Bridgetown Barbados on her inaugral Caribbean sailing in February 2004.. I took my daughters down to the site just off the port at about 5am to see the ship come in for the first time. I couldn't believe it when I got this really great shot of this really great ship. |

Here's a picture from Big Corn Island, Nicaragua.
As we landed after leaving beautiful, sunny Las Penitas, we ran into some pretty rough weather. Eventually, it broke -- here's the beginning of the good weather: __________________________ "Suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Yes, that is a monkey eating a mango sitting on a turtle. In Barbados, they have this nature reserve where they lay out some fruit and the monkeys coming in howling and swooping in. Poor slow turtles must be used as ottomans! |

Here's a panoramic picture I took at Playa El Agua on Margarita Island.
It's one of my fav pics because of the memories attached. We hiked up the hill to eat a picnic lunch while looking out over the beach and listening to the waves crash. That was taken with my old beat up backup digital camera that we would bring along to the beach. Here are some others from the Laberinto Tropical (Tropical Labyrinth) which had an animal sanctuary.

Hawksnest Beach, St. John, USVI. Got an unplanned & unexpected steal-of-a-deal on an open-air jeep wrangler (walking out of the St. Thomas airport, walked past a business traveller having to return his pre-paid rental a day earlier than expected & struck a sweet deal with the agent for me to get it for a day). Drove over to St. John, saw this beach, drove onto it & parked the jeep next to the tree & parked myself in the hammock for the afternoon. This is the life. The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page. ---St. Augustine |

Taken on the road to Reach Falls. The government recently took over running the business of Reach Falls. The locals, who have earned their living from the falls for their lifetime, find themselves with nothing. No tour buses stop. Visitors are taught to be afraid of these wonderful people.
The plea goes out on the windshield of a blown out truck. Government, One Love! |
