I usually am not a big sugary treat guy. But the craft service woman asked me what kind of goodie I liked as a kid, and I told her "Joe Louis" She gave me a box of six. I am currently in a mental fight over whether I should eat the last three.

Man, I loves me the Joe Louis....

Anyone ever heard of this thing? Also, when the hell did Wagon Wheels shrink to a quarter their original size?

I just thought I'd weigh in here.

I cannot get past this: the box in the picture seems to say Jos. ??

I remember Pinwheel cookies...kinda similar.

They go in the fridge?

And finally: one of the ex Yugoslava countries caught on too.

It's that Canadian formality... hence the "Joseph." Smile

I like whoopie pies myself. Moon Pies are too chewy-marshmallowy.

Kate. Very good that you noticed this. Seems that the Joe Louis was originally named after Joe and Louis Vachon. The owners of the Vachon company that makes the Joe Louis, (Not to mention the Half Moon, which all in my neighbourhood called the Lune Moon because the French and English were right on top of each other.) Joe Louis the boxer or his estate threatened to sue. So they changed it to Jos(eph)Louis. All the cool kids remember it as Joe Louis though.

By the way. Moon Pies have Marshmallows in 'em? Clearly nowhere near the goodness of the Joe Louis

OK, now I'm convinced that I need some of these.

I may be forced to order from http://www.canadiansweets.com/ since none of my Canadian friends are making a special trip down here for awhile. (hint hint)

Whoiever wrote the following has no idea of how great a Scooter Pie is. I love the darn things myself but the S&H to Alaska is just to darn high.

Scooter Pie

A cheap knock off of the moonpie. It is available mainly in the northern United States. In Canada and the UK it is called a Wagon Wheel. The Scooter Pie consists of two graham crackerish cookies, a marshmallow filling, and a waxy chocolate coating.

Well, Joe. Too late. I brought the Louie's with me to LA but I never did get an address. Eating one of them now in Latin America. Too bad for you. Really cool for me.

Joe Louis Forever!

Yeah. Maybe there's a library about the Moon Pie. It's Just a Wagon Wheel at the end of the day. Are they two delicious slices of moist cake with a creamy filling? No they are not. A little slice of Canadian Heaven in a cellophane wrapper? Wrong again. Edge Louis. Game to Louis. Up with Joe Louis.

Our Rocky Marcianos can knock your fancy moon pies out in eight rounds, flapjack-eaters. Smile And don't you forget it.
