Churros with chocolate dip in particular!

It's rare to find these amongst the Cuban churro stands I grew up with, but I too developed a craving for them while in southern Spain.

You're crazy, AB. But I love you anyway.

As a teacher, you of all people should have room in your heart for all donuts. Great and small. Thin and thick. Dry and greasy. Plain and cream-filled. Holy and hole-less.

Besides, every one knows that churros are where it's at.

Of course churros are a million times better than any donut. Obviously. And not that garbage that they sell at Costco -- ick. That ball of dough is a bastardized version of a churro. Good churros emerge dripping from half of an old lead-lined barrel, heated by a sketchy looking propane tank. Great churros come in a paper sack for 2 pesos, which quickly creates 3rd degree burns on one's hands and lower extremities.

But, my dear Uncle, there is no room in my heart for all donuts. A Safeway donut is not even close to a Dunkin Donuts creation. A bad donut is simply high blasphemy, especially since it is so easy to make a good donut.

PS, Piecar, I wanted to like Tim Horton's donuts. But they are too heavy. The maple bar should be the pinnacle of Canadian Donutdom. Instead, it is a heavy brick of dough slathered in faux-maple syrup. I tried multiple locations, thinking that I was certainly being overly judgmental. But no, Tim Horton's could learn a thing or two from DD. (Fighting words, I know...)

Then there is the Thailand Dunkin Donuts.
I think Safeway could easily beat them!

Lard covered raw flour can beat a Safeway donut.

Your own backyard? Don't you have some old barrels lying around? In a pinch, good old fashioned white gas can be used in the place of a pilfered propane tank....

Hey, Jules Verne...don't sweat it. I was on a show today that only had those Krispy Kreme things(dunno where they got 'em). I enjoyed it...while kicking myself and calling myself a hypocrite and then fighting not to go back to see what else they might have.

Just seems that their donuts are all sugar.

WOW!

Was stuck in traffic, downtown, and a motorcycle passed by, loaded with 4 Krispy Kreme boxes!

Then again, being this is Bangkok, maybe someone just cloned the boxes...... Frown

yeah but it is their high fat content that makes them real special. When they came to the Boston area a few years ago someone gave me a box of them. I had eight of them before I realized I could have polished off the whole dozen. Being the "boss" I showed restraint until I got in my car.
Since then like other places they have closed down.

Well.. yep. KK didn't really last in Canada. But honestly, I never really thought I liked donuts (I'm used to the Tim Horton's variety), until I tried a KK... it was like a whole other food group. Quite delicious.

a KK doughnut, bacon, sausage and a fried egg then ANOTHER KK doughnut.

Enough to give me a heart attack.

I don't know we might have had different Tim Horton's but I've tried Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts and Tim Horton's and I have to say Tim Horton's is the best!!!

I had the Krispy Kreme's strawberry jam filled and that was disgusting....so heavy and sugary that I wouldn't want to eat anything sweet for weeks.

We've had Krispy Kreme's in Oz for a couple of years with one of the main sites in Sydney Domestic Airport so it's not uncommon to see multiple groups of people getting on to little Dash-8 planes with large boxes.

But I personally have never like Krispy Kremes their too yeastie and icing sugary I'd have to say that the Australian company Donut King is much better particularly their fresh cinnamon donuts still hot. Yum yum yum Eating
