Just posting to brag about my daily culinary adventures here in Lima. The ceviche is so good it's almost an erotic experience eating it. I've never had better food and it's so cheap, I feel like I'm taking advantage of somebody.

Yes, i've been to the restaurant in the article, as well as dozens others just like it. Its sinful how good and how cheap the food is here. I still can't get over it.

Ohh you're so lucky! I had Peruvian friends in London who used to always invite me when they made Aji de Gallina. I love it!

I love that dish too and had it for lunch yesterday at this little dive by my office. A large green salad, main dish (aji de gallina with rice) and a bottomless glass of chica morada for 7 soles ($2.18 by todays exchange rate). I still can't believe these prices. They're going to have to roll me back to the US if I ever leave.

Wow, $2.18?! That's amazing.

I'm looking for a good recipe to make it at home. But I'm not sure I'll find the right yellow chili for it. Now you have me craving it! Smile

oh, peruvian food...
I had a memorable meal 6 years ago in the public market in Ayacucho and since then I've been trying to find a recipe for the dish, called Puca. it was a potato dish with a creamy sauce of tomato and peanuts.
Anyone knows it and can help me?

Yes, I enjoyed Peruvian food, like cerviche. Even the pseudo-Chinese food (I say "pseudo" because it really doesn't taste like what we have back in Asia) - Chifa is sort of good. It has that special type of Latin flavor.

However, I would say I enjoyed their drink even more: Inca Cola, Chicha, and of course - Pisco Sour.

I just haven't tried Cuy (guinea pig) yet.... Crazy

More than Latin flavor, I should say peruvian-chinese food because it is a mix between both flavors. You will not get that in other countries of Latin America, only in Peru. The same happens with the peruvian-italian food.
I expected to have the best of the best in Italy, but I would prefer italian food in Lima !!!!
I do not like japanesse food but many, many people say the best sushi is in Lima.

Strangely enough, the sushi here is excellent, better than I've had anywhere else. My favorite is probably Edo Sushi on Berlin in Miraflores. Sushi with rocotto, aji, and other typical Peruvian flavors is incredible. Plus listening to Japanese speak fluent Spanish always cracks me up.
