After eating tacos, pasta, rice, noodels, and sushi, I say the most food that I miss is Astor Place juice oily pizza!

I would do anything for a athentic NYC pizza!

I miss it like I miss a cigarate when I am on a 12 hour flight! I miss it like I miss my first love!

Please PM me a pizza!

Trinque

Ever since I moved to the West Coast no one has ever been able to replicate a big, thin, floppy slice of East Coast pizza. mmmm pizza and beer...

Where have you tried? Arinell's? Escape From New York? Lanesplitter? Nizza La Bella?

Okay, okay, so Arinell's is awesome but it's just not the same as sitting in a pizza diner back home with a huge pie in front of your face. Plus there's a little bit of east coast magic missing from the pies out here.
My favorite out here is Zante's Indian curry pizza, it's off da hoook!!!

Ok, since we're talking pizza here, I have a question. I finally tried a NYC style pizza and really liked it. Iv'e been trying to make pizza like that at home forever but can't get the crust right. Iv'e tried the Pillsbury dough in cans, bisquick, the dough bought in a big ball at the grocery store, etc. The crust always comes out soggy in the middle. I tried baking the crust before I put the toppings on but then it came out burnt and still soggy in the middle. What am I doing wrong?

Making crust from scratch is what you want to do. You also want to have the oven at a very, very high temperature and use tiles or a pizza stone to bake it on.

I am a total Chicago girl at heart, but the one thing I gotta give NYC (where I am now) is their pizza. I know they are completely different meals (deep dish done correctly or thin crust also done the right way), but there is nothing like a good, goey slice folded in half. I guess that's what happens when you are raised by New Yorker parents.

So where would you say the best slice is in the city?

I know there are too many to choose from, but there is always one that you keep going back to. My favorite is Francesco's on Columbus at 68th Street or New Town Pizza on Broadway at 78th st.
