Ok, Im heading off to travel for a year or 2 and Im allergic to nuts... has anyone had any experience avoiding them while travelling? I was in China earlier in the year and had few problems, but have heard it can be tricky in some parts of the world. Is there anywhere/ anything to look out for? Any advice welcome!

I would learn how to say "Allergic to Nuts" first thing when you arrive in a new country, and take all percautions you can to avoid eating them (or food that they've touched) by skipping any street noodle place. Also, make sure you know what you'll do if you do accidentially injest them, be it the nearest hospital you need to go to, or the medicine you need to take.

For something as serious as a nut allergy, I would think that those cards say what they claim to say.
However, since those Thai characters mean absolutely nothing to me, I would be real afraid if someone gave me one for general sayings. (As in the english would say "Where is the bathroom?" and the Thai would say "Please laugh at me and all my foolishness.") |

Thank you!
Thanks Joe for the link to the cards- i do plan on going to thailand. Don't suppose anyone knows where I can find these in other languages? Hope they do say what they'r ment to, got some funny looks when attempting to explain in chinese- I'd pieced together words from phrase books but couldnt find a word for nuts. Doubt they had a clue what I was talking about! |

Those cards are amazing! Someone should publish them in all the world's major languages! |
