I watched the last half of the World Cup last Sunday at a gay sports bar in Chelsea here in NYC, called Gym.

It was great. You had all the testosterone-fulled yelling at the screen and pool table/big screen tv ambience you always have at sports bars, mixed in with peanut-gallery chit-chat on which players were the cutest (Italia had more fans, of course). The peanut-gallery wasn't bad either.

Anyway, although I was one of 5 women in the whole place and they didn't have any hot wings (sacrilege), it was the best sports bar experience I've had.

Anyone else have other favorite gay sports bars to recommend?

Gym is on 8th Ave. between 18th and 19th Sts. in Chelsea. It is 2 doors down from the Joyce Theatre.

Umm, favorite gay sports bar??? I did not know such a thing existed, but if there is one nearby, I'll be there in a heartbeat!

I'm not going to make a broad stroke and say no gay men enjoy sports [especially team sports], but I have met many gay boys in my life, and only a slight fraction enjoy sports. I don't know why this is... suggestions anybody?

Heh, I guess I should revise the "post your favorite gay sports bar here" to "post ANY remotely gay sports bar here". Smile Let's show our gay & lesbian travelers around the world some love. Or is Gym the only one??

I dunno. I guess the whole team sports thing has traditionally been staked out as hetero male territory. Maybe things are changing? Most of my gay male friends are about as into sports as I am, but that's not to say no one would like to watch an important game and yell "that's bullshit!" at a t.v. every now & then. Especially the World Cup!

Well if there is any city that there would be a gay sports bar, it would be NYC. I'm not sure if we are going to find anymore... but who knows, I'm still suprised that there is even one.

Come to San Francisco. Sports we got. Bars we got. Gays too.

By the way, looks like the Gay Games are in Chicago tomorrow.

Chicago has a great gay sports bar. Yes it is a sports bar—truly. It's great. Great food, music and its got lots of big screens playing lots of different sports. My straight friends like it too.

The name of the place is Crew. It's in Uptown on Broadway just north of Lawrence. It's right next to the Green Mill.

I can't remember the names of the places, but it seemed as if gay sports bars were all over downtown Providence, Rhode Island. The fact that we were there visiting a gay friend may have skewed our experience there a bit, though.
