Well here is my crazy idea haha. I drive a 97 Toyota RAV4 and Im planning on taking it through Mexico and into Guatemala for a close to 2 month surf exploration. Im saving like mad, but some basic maint. for the car might be putting me in the red so I have decided to possibly start a site/blog/donate fund. "Voyage of the RAV" and this will just be the first of many many long deeeeep trips.

So my question is, as someone who values a more "non-blogging everyday" stance to travel/backpacking, is this selling out????

Im so very torn over this but I realize the potential it can have on my trip. Take "Voyage of the Swell" for example. Liz Clark, sailing around the world on her own 40ft boat at 25yr old.

Ok, lol, maybe I didnt word it right. What I mean by selling out is, on the blog, google-ads, paypal donate functions and all of that mess. Im doing the blog anyways, Im just wondering about the other stuff to try and churn some extra cash. Anything will help me as I tend to travel and do things on a very basic scale. Im packing hella amounts of canned tuna and Ramen for the trip just to save a couple hundred in food costs for example.

So, if thats any clearer, what do you guys think? Good idea, bad idea?

I don't think blogging is selling out at all. I also don't think it's going to make much money. Just my two cents.

It sounds like a very interesting idea. My question is how you will get all the advertisers. How many readers do you anticipate? Don't advertisers generally pay a cent or two for each click? Good luck with your plan!
