I am moving to london next year to start graduate school. Beside FAFSA loans, anyone have any idea how to fund college overseas? I'm looking into the Fulbright scholarship, but besides that I have seen no other grants or scholarships for US grad students wanting to study overseas. I've been all over the British Council website as well.

I got a grant from the German Government (search for DAAD) to study in Germany. Germany may be a cheap place to study- no tuition fees. I heard they were going to start charging a small tuition, but I'm not sure about the status of that.

A number of programs are taught in English, since there are so many foreign students.

What field are you in?

I've worked in education finance for almost twenty years, and it's amazing how little there is out there.

Try BrokeScholar for an online scholarship search. The good thing about BrokeScholar (aside from it being free) is that there are no ads, no spam (if you click the radio button saying don't spam me) and they never sell your name (ie you won't get offers for a visa card in the mail the week after you register, as on most sites). They make their money off of you later when they think you'll want to consolidate your student loans.

The private loans (the ones that aren't federally guaranteed, as Stafford loans are) are out there but increasingly aren't cheap. Be careful with these as their interest rates typically are variable, and in periods or rising rates you can get pounded.

If your aim is to transfer credits to a US institution, work with the financial aid office at your school. Never, ever pay anyone money who says they can 'find' scholarships or grants for you.

A life well lived must accept some risk.

I 2nd Germany.

Free tuition, and you can likely get work tutoring English to help with expenses.
