Hsbc has CDs but the highest rate is 4.35% for a 4-month, and thats only "new money", it cant be transferred from my savings. But thats a good idea, if I can find the right one. I wont be going on my RTW for a couple of years, so I wont be touching this money.

Watch for all of these interest rates to continue to fall. They were propped up the last few years when cash was flush and banks were rolling in it. Now it turns out that the banks don't have all the money they thought they had and they have to start making cuts.

Omg, HSBC savings interest rate just dropped AGAIN. On January 29th, it went from 4.25% to 3.80%. Today (Feb 5th) I got an email that its now 3.55%. The CD thing is looking better and better. But Im not sure their CD rates are that great, 2.75% for 6-month and 2.5% for 9-month. I think there are better rates. I didnt wanna be hasty, but I might have to put my money elsewhere. E-Trade is still at 4.4% for savings.

I'd look at more than just interest rates though. While I don't think it will happen, eTrade is navigating rough waters and could go under all together. There stock has gone from over $25 a share to under $5 a share this year. They'll start cutting interest rates soon as well.

You were right, E trade dropped to 3.45%. Hsbc is at 3.55%, the grass is greener over here now.
