I got a second job. So now I have my 8-5 full time, but I'm going to be waiting tables 2-3 days a week. Yikes. But that'll be a lot of extra cash in 5 months!

Yep, that IS the best way to make some extra money....and waiting tables is great cause you get tips as well.
As for me, I have 3 jobs LoL...my main job is my staple money, so it gives me what I need to survive...and my other 2 jobs give me what I need to save up. Go for it Justin...you know it'll be worth it in the end!! |

Sometimes I tend to get upset with my part-time job. Like yesterday when it was raining like crazy and my arm hurt from getting a tetnus shot. I just kept repeating over and over why I was doing it. Made it much more bareable. Several of the people who I work with will make comments how I don't complain much or how I always seem happy. I tell them that it's because I'm not actually in an inventory but rather in Bejing, Paris, or any place that I have stuck in my head that day.

I have worked 3 jobs the past 3 months and it most definitely was worth the time and loss of sleep. I am leaving for my 2 months in Europe on Monday and not only do I have enough money to make the trip enjoyable but I have also adjusted to getting by on 4-6 hours sleeps with 1 catch up day every 8 days or so. This will help with long fun days of sightseeing and just hanging out.

I've gone this route before and I can definitely attest it is by far the single fastest way to drive up your savings.
The great side benefit is you're often so busy, you don't even have time to spend the money even if you wanted to do so. |

I'm seriously considering doing pizza deliveries again, I like having my free time though, maybe I should do something like that for the last 3-4 months though.

I could definetely not work a 2nd job right now, but working 40hrs/wk plus full time courseload is alot more work than most students do!!!
but despite the fact that I have NO time, I still manage to spend hours on boots, imagine that!!! |

I'm self employed, but I sometimes do a little temping on the side for extra cash. The problem is I burn out really fast. I admire people who can do it for prolonged periods! I prefer to just do a couple of weeks here and there - a month at the absolute most. Any more and I really start to miss having time to relax.
Still, it's worth it for the extra cash. |

at this point, I'm so sick of my regular job, that working at the restaurant is a nice break. I look forward to it...

Another good suggestion is if you can't hack a second job all the time (I know I can't--with marathon training is almost a second job, it's too much!), work a temporary part-time job. I am working at one right now at an academic library as a librarian (so in my field, even better!) during finals time. But holidays are a great time to get a part-time retail job. TONS of stores hire--from William & Sonoma to Macy's to Bath & Body Works to local pottery stores--all of which I've been recently shopping at. It will suck for a month with crowds at a busy time of year for most people, but that money is great. I stick it directly in the travel account.
