There are tons of threads all over the place on ways to save money. However, when it comes down to it you simply need to cut down on your expenses any way possible and save as much as you can. I would think that you would be better off doing that on your own than trying to win a competition, or even the lottery.

You could work wile on the road. With IT skills you could do web developing anywhere as long as you have a laptop and internet connection.

You may want to hold off on the travel competitions for now and just get traveling. Most of the people that participate in those races have “big money” sponsors.

AS long as you have a working Visa to work in the coun try you would like to visit just save and go.
My daughter has been doing this for 5 years now all over the world and is still going.

It is a balance of working saving and living. Being really careful with your money while you are working so you can save. Live in a shared house. Socialise with a budget so as not to spend all the money you earn. Learn to live frugally.
