Hi there, We need very flexible part time jobs, really something that we can do at night from home because of our erratic work schedules. I'm really interested in Data entry but I can't seem to find anything out about it without having to pay. Since paying for it seems bizarre for me (although i have known people who have paid for mystery shopping and worked in the field)I was wondering if anyone has any experience in this and can point me to the right direction so i can find a job as well. Thanks!

Why don't you look up your local RGIS district? It's not from home but you can work the hours you want. I've been working for them for over 8 years now. I put about an extra $1000 away in savings a month with that job.

What is RGIS? And is it something I can do in the UK?

It's an inventory company. So you go into stores and count them, usually when they are closed but not always. And yes, there are districts in the UK, but I'm not sure just where they are located. In the US you can work for one pretty much anywhere.

When you worked w/ them did you apply online or did you call them at all? I hate applying online because it just feels like you get lost in the shuffle. Any tips to make the application stand out - as to what they are looking for?

Basically if you show up to work and are capable of holding a laser your hired. It's really not rocket science at all.

If you don't like the apply online function (which they do get, my Dad is a district manager and hires from those constantly) go to the locations area and figure out which district is closest to you. The phone number will be there.

Depends on where you live. Some start at $8 and some at $9.

Do they care if you have a regular full time job? Any tip for making my info stand out about others? I'm sure they must get a lot of applications

Loads of people do this as a second job, so they have no problems with that. And really, if you apply you will get hired. The interviews are done in groups. The only thing that is slightly difficult is the math test. They just need to make sure that you know your numbers!

This may only be applicable for US folks, but instead of a boring job like data entry as a backup for extra cash, why not consider a store like Costco, which starts at $10 an hour, or even In and Out burger which starts at $9.50 an hour. AT least with In and Out you'd probably get free food too.

RGIS sounds like a nice little gig...something that wouldn't be hard to break away from.

I've been looking into ways to generate passive income...selling stock photos, google adsense, amazon associates, website templates, clothing designs through threadless dot com and cafe press...anything that I put for the creative effort once and then collect on the road. All in all, I've made about .04 cents. *Sigh* Still, I can dream, right?
