Knows What a Schengen Visa Is

Has anyone done this? I'm a solo female and talked to a girl who did this in Europe but I'm wondering about here. She said there are "hitching posts" there but if they're here I have no clue. I always wanted to try this. Yes, I'm aware of dangers but this girl did it and she said it was fine. ? I want to get to Miami by Monday(I know, I'm crazy) and can't use my debit card cause I lost it and am gettting a replacement which I haven't gotten yet. help!

Craigs list ride share my dear! I've hitched across the US, but only with boys. The girls job is to GET the ride and the boys job is to keep the freaky freaks at bay, and believe me, there are a lotta sick people running around this country. Be Safe!

I agree that ride shares are good. I have done that a few times and they all turned out great. I have done the hitchhiking thing to and I would not recomend it for you. For one it seems to be illegal in most places, and then there is the danger factor.

Be real careful Laura, I really would not try it alone unless you are heavilly armed. I am an older male and its almost impossible to get a ride in the USA. Usually the only ones who may be willing to give a ride are not too sane or Christians, the same thing(just kidding). My recommendation is to BEG people for money(panhandle) and then go by bus,its much safer that way. Later!!

I think hitching in the states varries a lot depending on where you do it. I would NEVER hitch in, say, New Jersey. But I have no problem hitching in Montana. The back of a pickup truck gives both parties a safe perimeter - and provides an excellent view!

Its kinda sad that in the US, hitching is viewed as this bad and dangerous thing.... yes sometimes it is dangerous, however i have met some people out there who were great company, and were amazing people. I wouldn't recomend doing it as a women and by yourself. Craigslist and bus tickets are both good ideas.
