Hello!

My husband and I will be travelling to New Orleans in November. What we would like to do, is rent a car and stay in a bed and breakfast (authentic, plantation, or bayou), and drive around exploring the area, would like to see the countryside.

Any ideas on bed and breakfast places, or hotels? I've been checking into staying at a plantation, any ideas on that?

It looks like most prices would be between 100 to 200 a night.

Any ideas are most welcome!
Thanks!
Suzanne

Hello, Suzanne, Can I stay with you when I visit Canada? Just kidding. If I were you, I would stay someplace besides NO. You can easily drive into NO to do the touristy stuff but there is lots more to Louisiana than NO. For example, you may enjoy the authentic Cajun music, food and culture you will find in such areas as Houma. Just my opinion.

Ooops, after rereading my post, what i did forget to mention, was that we would like to find a place outside of New orleans. My husband and I have been to New Orleans in 2003.

However this time, we would like to explore outside of new orleans.

Any ideas on where to stay?

We will have 2 days and then we are headed back to new orlesn to meet up with friends there.

PS: LorenaG, are you coming to Canada?

I would head south and south west of NO. This place:
http://www.crochethouse.com/ has a lot of great links on it. I think that Parish is officially bilingual (English/Cajun French). I know that is run-of-the-mill in O! Canada, but it is pretty unusual for us in the US. You could also check out the handicrafts and cultural shows of the local indian tribes.
