If you have the transportation, and like such things, another interesting place to visit is Huntington Botanical Gardens (WWW.HUNTINGTON.ORG) in San Marino, 12 miles northeast of downtown LA. I spent an entire afternoon there in the spring, completely enchanted by the beauty of it all. This is a 150 acre garden, with many many gardens, the most spectacular of all is probably the desert garden - but there are also a Japanese, rose, camellia, palm, subtropical, jungle, lily ponds, herb, and Australian gardens. I spent at least an hour on a bench in the middle of nowhere, in there, looking up at the sky under a ring of palm trees, and it was just heavenly.

Woops - that post was supposed to go as a reply to the woman asking for things to do in LA. I told it to - don't know why it made its own topic! Sorry for the confusion
