Hey, Macri, why not use Amtrak? As a visitor to the country, you can get a 30 day rail pass, or you can do point to point tickets pretty cheaply and without much notice. Here are a couple of route suggestions: New York-Boston-Chicago-Denver-Salt Lake City-Portland-San Francisco-Los Angeles New York-Washington DC-Charlotte-Atlanta-New Orleans-Memphis-St. Louis-Kansas City-Santa Fe-Denver-Salt Lake City-Sacremento-San Francisco-Los Angeles. You'll enjoy the train a lot more than the bus, and it's more reliable than ride share, IMHO. Google "Driveaway," which is the name of the biggest company doing car delivery. You need to be flexible, have a credit card, and usually be over 25. If you can find a vehicle near your starting point going near LA (one of the biggest delivery points), you'll have a lot of fun. Last time I did it, I delivered a Mercedes convertible from Montreal to Miami, and got a $150 gas allowance to do it.
