Hi! Concerning your visit to Montreal i can recommand you a small hostel that will offer you a great value and is idealy located.
The name is Le Gite du Plateau Mont-Royal www.hostelmontreal.com
They are located in a nice renovated building and from there you are in a walking distance of all major attractions and near the central bus station and subway.
Don't miss a walk on the mountain, via Peel street, also St-denis and St-Laurent st.
