MLISS, you know your stuff. I am a big music fan too and love traveling to historic music scenes myself. I went to London and Liverpool for the Beatles. It is amazing how many people go to Liverpool for The Beatles. I went on the Magical Mystery Bus and it was packed with people from all over the world. That trip I visited Abbey Road, Penny Lane, Stawberry Fields, Cavern Club, Mathew Street and drank at a few of the Beatles favorite pubs. John Lennon loved the Phil and that was the most ornate bar I have ever been. George Harrison loved The Croc and was last there a couple weeks before he died. I went to Manchester for their music scene and it is quite lively. Live music all over that city every night.

Some music places I have yet to visit but will soon:
Austin- live music capital of the world
Memphis-Beale St and Graceland.
Clarkesdale- crossroads and juke joints. Lots of blues points of interest

This is a good topic!

This was from another thred, but I wanted to make it it's own. I am vestly interested in exploring all the cities that were important to the history of rock 'n roll.

AGT, thanks for the ideas. Let me know of other places for me to add to my list.

My list of cities, so far:
- New York City: I lived there all my life, now it's time to explore the "velvet underground"
- Woodstock, NY: Dylan & the Band. Been there, seen Big Pink, but will go back
- Boston, MA: Gave us Aerosmith, The Cars, and the eponymous band.
- Asbury Park/Freehold, NJ: Shuffeling down to E Street and exploring the roots of the Jersey sound.
- Nashville/Memphis/New Orleans: The Birth of country and the Blues, and all the towns in between.
- Los Angeles, CA: Hippies and hair
- San Francisco, CA: I'll skip wearing the flowers
- Seattle/Aberdeen, WA: Grunge and coffee
- Detroit/Cleveland: Motown and the Hall of Fame
- Chicago: Blues' new frontier. I've been there, but desperately need to go back.

Help me add to this list. Tell me of great sites to see and streets to walk. Please let me know of great music joints.
