hey. we are living in irapuato, and though we do get out pretty often, it is to play pool more often than i would like. anyone game for some outdoor adventures, travels or showing us around a city you know a little more about than we do, please let me know. if anyone has lived in any of these places, could you recommend cool cafes, poolhalls, bars, historical sites, hikes (anything really). oh yes, and parks. thanks a lot.
we would know far more about life's complexities if we applied ourselves to the close study of its contradictions instead of wasting so much time on similarities and connections, which should, anyway, be self explanatory - jose saramago |

I've never lived in Irapuato, but I visit leon/guanajuato about once a year since my family is from there.
Guanajuato- Some of the more interesting sites are the pipila, el callejon del beso, el teatro de las bellas artes, la casa de las leyendas, and la casa de la tia aura(which are like museums I guess where they talk about the old legends of the city) and of course the momias (mummies). Leon- El teatro del doblado. Explora (Which is like a scince center and it even has an imax theatre), the parque motrpolitano( you can go camping and there's a lake and stuff) the city zoo, shoe shopping since it’s like the shoe capital, and clubs. Then if you want to go up north there's the cathedral of san Juan de los lagos where there's lots of things to see and buy, like cajeta(caramel type candy which is very yummy!) and trinkets. Plus there is the cubilete de cristo de la montaña in silao. There's also a small water park/hotel in comanjilla which is a very small town near Leon. I don’t know much about Irapuato because I hardly ever visit but my dad told me there's a lot of strawberry and cattle exhibitions, and rodeo's. Then there's the water park in Abasolo just a little aways from there. Well I hope that helped and if I can think of anything I’ll try and post it up here. |

In Guanajuato City there's a fun cool, artsy dance place called La Dama de las Camelias on Sopena about two blocks off Jardin Union. Mix of salsa and other tunes. Starts late (naturally).
Also, Ex-Hacienda San Gabriel de Barerra just outside of GTO is an absolutely beautiful place to spend a day. Restored grounds, 14 different gardens etc. |

I just like saying "Guanajuato" over and over again, breathlessly.

Guanajuato
Endless nights of dance and music to be had for the cost of a beer Land of hidden dimensions To be found Without effort Seriously, the museum of mummies and the Pantheon is absolutely amazing. Just walking around is amazing, and there are free tours of some of the town if you show up in the town center at the right time. |
