Hi,

a while ago a friend of mine told me about working in a tobacco field in Canada for summer. Unfortunedly, it was a while ago and I can`t seem to remember much about it. I searched on Google and some job sites but oddly couldn't find anything. Can someone please help me here? Where can I call? Are there any important specifications? Thanks!

They grow tobacco in Canada? Get outta here! I was shocked to see a couple of small fields in Germany last summer. I'm sorry, I'm not answering your question. I'm just floored that they grow tobacco in Canada. I don't know why I've got it in my head that it's only grown between MD and GA.

Would I be out of line to ask WHY you'd want to work in a tobacco field, anywhere? It's really far less glamorous than it sounds!

That's for sure. I worked in the fields in Canada for a while when I was a lot younger. I'd have a hard time thinking of anything I'd sooner not do.

That said, I don't have any info for you other than to try the Canada Employment office for the region. A Google search should turn up the contact info.

Try jobbank.gc.ca, it is the government of Canada's employment website. But I will have to agree with the other people who replied to your post, why the heck do you want to work in a tobacco field? There are lots of orchards, you can make decent money picking fruit, and most farmers let you tent in the fields free of charge.

I've never heard of anyone growing tobacco in Canada...I though that was mainly a southern USA thing?

You should look up treeplanting if you want to work outdoors and make alot of cash fast.

The best place is BC to plant (less bugs, better pay), but its harder to get hired out there as a rookie. You can also try Northern Ontario, they easily hire rookies but the land is worse and the blackflies at this time are just brutal. There are a ton of treeplanting websites with advice about companies and equipemnt.

My friend makes $300 average a day out in BC
