Just to let everyone, the subway fare in NYC has been increased. It's not as straightforward as simply raising the fare, except for "unlimited ride" cards, e.g., the one-day pass has gone from $7.00 to $7.50.

The cost per ride remains at $2.00, but the bonus has been restructured. It used to be 20% if you bought a card for $10 or more, which was pretty easy to figure out -- $10 got you $12, which translated into 6 ride. Now, however, it's a 15% bonus for cards of $7.00 or more, making it nearly impossible to buy a card and not lose a few cents or more to the MTA. It's so confusing that they've posted signs telling you what to do (if you don't read English, these signs appear in a dozen or so languages):
