I am seriously considering going down there by the end of this month, although time is running out. Anyone have any advice? Should I buy a plane ticket or take multiple buses? I would like to go by plain road but don't know if there's time. This will be my first trip in a long time......but that time is coming.

I hope to make the same journey in about a year, only I'll have a car at my disposal so I can't really suggest anything to you :/

fly by plane....spirit air usually has cheap flights and southwester or even jet blue...it's cheaper to fly than amtrack and greyhound actually..greyhound is awful and so is amtrak....unless you have your own car and want to do some driving...you can always drive on us1 which is supposed to be the scenic route for travelling on the east coast the local way ....meaning no highway driving...i would rather use that time to hang in florida and do hiking or hanging at the beach....

Hey! I'm a train fan. I love the train to Miami. It IS more expensive than flying, however.

Once you're in Miami, get a shuttle to Clay International Hostel in South Beach. I went there and loved it. South Beach is where you go when you don't speak Spanish, and want a fun time at the beach.

The shuttle actually goes there. make reservations before you arrive. They may be necessary.

I don't know where to stay or how to get around but I REALLY want to go there......I'm trying like hell.

What will I do without a car? I have a license but never drive.

Maybe combine the two why not thinkabout flying to orlando and getting the amtrack from orlando to miami. Doing it this way maybe you will have time for a few days in orlando too. If you dont like theme parks I wouldent bother with Orlando there is not much to do that is not aimed at tourists.

Ps clay is the best hostel in south beach you should definetly give it a go.
