Just found myself some decent US domestic airline tickets but have just discovered a strange quirk of the US flight booking system.
Very few online flight places let you buy tickets unless you have a credit card with a billing address in the US.

How weird is that... you would have to be pretty crazy to buy an airline ticket with a fraudulent card??

any suggestions on how non-US people can buy domestic US flights online?

Just found some Canadian site that will accept my money:

althought the taxes appear to cost more than the tickets themselves

ok after a number of failures... including cheaptickets.com and most of the cheap flight aggregator sites... (some whom would take US, some Western Euopean Credit cards)

we finally managed to buys some tickets online with usairways.com

not the cheapest of the most ideal times.. but at least they like the colour of my money

I can see that you are from Australia. I have a friend who is from Australia, scream to me for help with US Airline because of the confusion with credit card. she trusted me, gave me the CC # and address and information. I called and contact Southwest Airline, which happened to have a computer system down when she tried to reserve a ticket. The next day, it came with no problem and the ticket were reserved. Southwest is most popular US Airline which accept Non-US Credit card. SO, next time, use Southwest. They are very friendly and give great service.

I've had this problem in the past and had to resort to going through a travel agent with the benefits of a 30% surcharge and no cancellation. Yay.

Can anyone tell me WHY this seems to be the case in America? and they don't go with what would seem to be the more universal Visa/Martercard/Dinners/AmEx system?
