Hey,
How much would it cost to drive from Miami to NYC in terms of gas and tolls? How much is a galon of the cheapest gas in the states? How many KM are between this cities? How much is a cheap hostal/motel/hotel beside the highway? How long would it take me to do this trip? 2 days?

I don't know what kind of car you're driving, so I can't talk about your mileage. You COULD have a hybrid and only drive at 55 mph, which would get you, in theory, 50 mpg or more.

The other estimates are spot on.

I should know. I have driven up to Miami and back with my business partner of the time. and the prices given for hotels are spot on. Gas prices probably will not fall below 4 dollars a gallon for a while if at all.

Oh yes, heres some experience talking. If you have no intention of actually visiting North Carolina, bed down in South Carolina or the state after N.C. Why? You try and pull off to a hotel where you see this huge sign advertising 32 dollars a night, and then you CAN'T find the place. There aren't enough signage to point you to it! Some stupid N.C law says you can't put large signage pointing to a hotel just off the highway.

We spent 20 minutes wandering trying to find the cheap hotel advertised. Then getting back on is an adventure in who you can find to ask advice, or in your superior direction sense.

If you have a AAA card, you may get a discount. If you are a senior citizen you may qualifiy for a discount. My partner once actually got a smile discount, which was quite amusing.

Oh yes, stay away from the ultra cheapos. They tend to be occupied by people you may not want as your next door neighbor, even temporarily.

If you are strapped for cash, you could always find a Walmart and park in their parking lot. I hear they're sleepover friendly.
