Some friends and I are putting together a road trip for spring break. We live in central kentucky are are considering either Ontario or Northern Mexico for our trips. Given that we only have a week and a half to drive there, back, and travel, what are some good northern mexican towns and destinations we might look into visiting that have at least some nightlife but wont drain the wallet or be filled with other spring breaking college kids?

Ontario? It will be cold, but the key thing is the drinking age is 19, so you can go nuts. If your serious on Canada, and want to party, skip Ontario and head to Montreal. Some of the best looking women are there, and its known as one of the best party spots in Canada. Spring break will be crazy there. Plus, you wont spend as much there as you would in Mexico. If your in Kentucky, why not just go big and drive to Cancun? speaks for itself!

why do posters on here have a craving to give info about something they have never experienced-eh?
yes it will be colder in toronto AND montreal than most places in mexico during spring break. but their ain't no difference in the "babe" factor between toronto or montreal. so tell us all about kelowna, kelownakid and tell us about the above mentioned cities when ya actually know somthing-ppphhhttt! i don't have no armchair-i do -i don't sit and pretend like alotta ya! |

Pedro, are you always grumpy?
Where do you get off saying I know nothing about Cancun, Toronto or Montreal? Smarterchild seems like a younger guy, so i thought he would want some advice from someone his own age on what to do. Montreal is considered a haven for spring break in Canada, so again, just helping him out. After re-reading my post several times, I see nothing wrong with what i wrote. Maybe you should heed your own advice. --------------------------------- " and as for traveling alone, f*** it; if that's the way it has to be, then that's the way it is.." |

hey, im not claiming to be an expert, and have never been to toronto (or really anywhere except kenora in ontario). however, montreal rocks at a party town, and (i believe) anywhere you would want to go for a wild spring break in mexico may take more time than you have to drive to. cancun is out of the question, the peninsula is FAR. try something farther north, puerta vallarta or, i have heard really good things about michoacan. (closer i think to you). depends if your friends will have fun on a road trip, or if the driving will just be a pain in the ass. check out michoacan, i hear you can camp on the beach for about 2.50 us a day. good luck

Not that I am a huge fan of Toronto (and I live here) but it is a decent place to visit but Montreal is cooler. Weather forcast for the next few weeks is actually pretty good as well. On the flip side, you will need at least a day on each end for travelling and if you drive straight through then factor in some post driving recovery time.
Have you thought much about visiting southern US? The weather's dure to be better and you won't need to drive as far. However, if it's a party you're after and you not 21, come to Toronto, find a pub, watch the Leafs miss out on the playoffs...visit a museum (art, history, or hockey)...or see if any of the events on this link interest you!! Cheers! http://www.toronto.ca/you-belong/attractions/toronto-events-march-06.htm |

I don't think driving to a destination in Mexico that offers Spring Break Night Life would be worth it if you only have about 10 days. Baja California Sur is a great road trip with a lot of camp grounds along and Pacific coast. Cheap and the hearty surfing crowd usually provide a decent party atmosphere.
I was in Cozumel in February for a scuba trip. The local reports I heard were that Cancun, Playa del Carmen and other beach areas took a powerful hit from Wilma. A lot of damage to beaches and property. In February Coz's hotels were only 50% operational. |

Ok, I'm no Canada-basher, but I'm gonna go against the grain and vote for Mexico.
I recently spent just one week there and had an awesome time. I stayed in Mexico City, Puerto Marquez and Taxco and then flew back out. The beach, the mountains and the third-largest city in the world all in one week... not too bad at all. I know travel time could make Mexico a slightly less attractive option, but half the fun of a road trip is the road trip itself, right? It's not like you'll be sitting alone on a boring plane like I was. And I'm not sure I agree at all with the guy who said you'll spend way less money in Canada. In my experience, Mexico is about 75% as expensive as the U.S. and Canada is about 125%, give or take. Obviously you can find deals and rip-offs anywhere you go, but those were my general impressions. ----- "You can't help respecting anybody who can spell TUESDAY, even if he doesn't spell it right; but spelling isn't everything.
