Ould Sod is a fun place....

Course, there is always Hooley's.

I have a soft spot for The Princess.

But my heart belongs to The Water Front.

Honestly I've never seen a really good Irish pub in San Diego and I've been to Hennessey's in PB and it's ok so downtown might be better but it is very expensive in the Gaslamp. If you're coming to SD you might want to do the SD thing and hit up the bars beach style w/ your flip flops, etc. Check out Lahina's on the boardwalk in pacific beach at sunset and drink a beer on the deck overlooking the water. Very San Diego

I'm a Bostonian transplant - you will have a good time here! If you want other tips about other areas or Mexico let me know. I can tell you some great spots! If you want to cross the border for a few hours and get some kick a$$ tacos make sure to bring your passport - need 'em as of today to get back across.

Great to hear that. Do you think I should take a tour to Tijuana or just jump on the trolley and walk over?

Yep! Smile

You'll be fine -- lots to see and the trolley is the way to do it.

I smell mischief in the air for Mon night.
You going to be around Littlemustard? Smile

With The Capt and any two other booots it can be classified as an official meetup.

yes, any meet-up shenanigans will have to go down Monday night, but it sounds like at least BBill and I are in -- I just can't seem to escape this guy. Smile

I have to rest up Tuesday night, I fly out at 11pm to JFK via SLC - and I mean that I am the pilot. So rested is key.

The verdict is in

The Field!!!!!. Authentic Irish Pub(they say) decent Guinness( they draw a lovely shamrock on top) and a short walk/stumble to the HI hostel around the corner. I headed out to Pacific Beach but the rain??? precluded the beach bar scene. Looks like it is yet another place I will have to re-visit.

It seems like Tecate works well for me in Tijuana. I love travel!

Oh man, I'm so bummed I didn't read this until now! Well I'm glad to hear you had fun!! I was right down the street in PB. Tecate is the bomb. I won't tolerate cheap american beer but I love cheap beer in other countries - not sure why. We went to the brewery last year, it was a TON of fun, they give you free beer and they were very excited about their new 24 oz. So now whenever we really want to go out for a night on the town we say "Welcome 24!" hahaha... Glad you headed to TJ too, some people are too nervous but it's a good time!
