STA Travel is supposed to be good, but I've not used them myself.

Some places might give you discounts with an ISIC card or similar though Smile

Travelcuts is a popular choice up here. It's also for people from the States, which is cool. It's owned by the Canadian Federation of Students, and they do plane tickets, hostel/hotel reservations, transportation pass sales, ISICs, etc. They also have destination related talks occasionally (if you're in a city with a TravelCuts office).

I am never booking through STA Travel again.

Me and Jen bought 2 tickets from the STA office (in person) on our campus.

The reason we bought them is because STA tickets allow you to change departue dates, we thought we might (and indeed did) need if we ran out of money. And infact we paid more than what we would of paid from orbitz or travelocity because we did it through STA

WELL, when we ran out of money and tried to change the departure data, first we went to the STA office in Barcelona, who told us THEY didnt exchange tickets at STA travel help centers... when it STATES DIRECTLY ON THE TICKET "Exchange these tickets at TRAVEL HELP CENTERS".

Next we had to long distance call customer service, they told us that infact we WEREN'T SOLD STA tickets, but instead "regular tickets" and we couldnt change dates without significant restrictions (one of which was that had to be the same airline).

After literally 10 hours of customer service bullshit, Jen stated flatly:

"Can we exchange these tickets for ANY flight from ANY country in ALL OF EUROPE to ANY Destination in NORTH OR SOUTH AMERICA?"

The Answer: "No, there are no flights avaliable".

So, ya... never ever ever ever again...

Yeah, to be honest, when I was a student I still found better airfare prices when searching Travelocity then going to the website of the airline.

Though my first Europe trip I went through STA because they had a flight fr Boston - Amsterdam return for US$700 in the middle of August with three weeks advance purchase and to buy it directly through Iceland air it was US$720.

I had issues with STA too...just didnt seem to want my business, to be honest. However, when I made domestic reservations in Australia, they were very helpful (they're also based in Australia and are everywhere, so that probably helped)

i had a friend who bought her ticket through studentuniverse for a semester trip starting in amsterdam...she paid like $200 for one way which seems pretty reasonable...you cant fly across the US for cheaper then that. Anyways as far as i know she didnt have trouble with it. Seems like a good site to utilize as long as you are a student.

And charge $40 to book an international flight. I realized afterwards that once that was factored in, I saved about $10 on a round trip to London, and had "student class tickets" which are ineligible for aeroplan points (which would have been enough to bump me up to free flight to south america). Needless to say, I feel ripped off, but have no one but myself to blame (and the asses that don't mention fees in their price quotes).
