okieboy,

I don't think there's one country (or even one continent) that's going to get everyone to rush to hire you after you graduate or whatever. A lot probably depends on what you're studying and/or what you want to do when you graduate. For instance, I know quite a few kids at my school are studying Mandarin because they expect to be doing business with Chinese companies in the future, and for them it'd probably be most advantageous to study in China. If you're wanting to work for the government, though, maybe you want to go to an Arabic-speaking country so that you'll have recruiters breaking down your door (in a good way!) when you graduate?

I was just thinking, though, that this might be one of those questions where there are no right answers, but there are some wrong ones. I imagine that unless you're wanting to work for Jose Cuervo or Girls Gone Wild that no one will be impressed by your semester at the University of Cancun.

Depends what your major is and what type of job you'll be looking for. Going somewhere were you can be immersed in a new language and come home fluent would be a major bonus. Speaking Spanish, Russian, or German are all plusses in most fields in the U.S. Chinese, Japanese and Arabic also have their benefits, but are more difficult to learn as far as I know.

International and Area Studies requires you to study or work abroad for at least a semester.
