This thursday morning, going to mexico for spring break. It'll be on a school trip, so yes teacher chaperoned, but I'll have a couple buddies and although itll be mostly guided tours, we still get free range of the cities we're in when we happen to be at the hotel. Just looking forward to getting out of waterdown, and canada for that matter for march break and seeing some of the yucatan peninsula. Anyone been on any memorable school trips abroad? I went to Costa Rica in the tenth grade and this time around i will not be wearing the tour provided orange and bright blue backpacks.

Began Gap Year Trip Six Years Ago |
hey KK! haven't seen you around for a while.. but have fun! and aren't you leaving for europe shortly after you come back?
haha sorry didn't mean to go off-topic, especially as teh first reply. but hmm.. no i haven't, but my friend went to spain/france when she was in high school. according to her, it was embarassing for the most part (because of her classmates) but for the few times she was alone or with just a couple of her friends, she had a great time. . . . Freedom lies in being bold. |

I've gone on trips organized for high school students, like the Students on Ice expedition to Antarctica, but I was the only person from my school (actually the only person within an hour or two) who went.
I went to England for three weeks with the Girl Guides when I was 12, however. I never did the school trips because they sucked - one of them was like, 7 cities in 10 days (including travel time). |

Extra Pages in Passport |
Back in grade nine - seems like a lifetime ago, but actually only 8 years - I went on a school trip to France for two weeks. It was well organized, I thought, as we only went to 3 cities (plus one 1-night stop in a smaller town to stay at a classy hotel), and we had free reign probably more than half the time, which was especially great in Paris, since we could get around quickly and easily on the metro. Best of all though, was that one of our teachers was from France, and arranged homestays through a secondary school in her home town of Toulon. That was really great since not only did my billet family live in a really cool old house (dating to around the French revolution, complete with WWII bomb shelter), but we also spent easter with our billets which was really quite interesting. Same, but different, if you will. |
