i have a dilemma. i'm a restless person stuck in college so i sortof need to approach travel a bit differently that what i've been used to. i'm sure there are other people out there in the same boat: low on cash, committed to something in life, school, work, kids, whatever.

just thought it would be cool to have a seperate posting catagory for short term or low budget adventures so people like me can better find travelling partners and have constructive discussion about doing more with less. that way, i don't have to take half the night searching through all the great info on travel just to find a posting or two for a week-long trip. after all, i should be studying right now Wink Wink

cheers and blue skies,
--Pete :-)

PS - or maybe even a student forum...

I'm in the same boat as you (college). This coming spring break i just started looking into belize, the problem is that much of the internet on the net is organized into two categories:

1. Long term "you gonna be here for a year" type information

OR

2. Short Term "you don't know shit about travel so if you just buy a travel package from us we will give you no freedom for your 10 days in belize" type of information.

Yep, a student formum sounds like a neat idea. Booties are getting younger and younger (Gosh, that makes me feel older).

i can most definately relate! im in coolege, and working and doing work study, and volunteering.. and i want to continue that. while have aspirations for longer trips, i must do with what time and money i have available now. over spring break i am going to germany. i have asked many people for ideas and they have been helpful, but i wish i had more time, to see all the things that they have suggested. but since i have school, a week is really the only option for me.

excellent idea for the forum, hell I'm planning on making university the best decade of my life, so I could be in this forum for quite some time. Cheap trips, student discounts, ISIC cards, oh the discussions to be had.

Plus, no being told that Europe/Asia/etc... was better 25 years ago.

vagabondclimber...Jackson Wyoming is an incredible place huh..was just there this summer. Anyhow, I'm totally in the same boat as all of yall...school makes it very difficult to travel..especially as I'm taking 6 classes in order to get out as soon as possible!
I am currently looking into volunteer trips where usually it's really cheap. I'm thinking about goin right after finals until Christmas..Thailand perhaps. But I think this is a good option for students because it's cheaper.
And in response to Study Abroad...Semester at Sea! 10-12 countries, 100 days, sailing around the World...absolutely incredible

I'd like to second (third? fourth?) the thanks about the student travel forum...
I'm definitely on the low-time & low-money end of things, at least until May, so it'll be nice to chat with people who are in the same boat. Smile
