I am interested in learning things other than soft skills(languages, etc...) while traveling abroad in the next year or so. I have been trying to find programs or places that I can look into possibly learning things like welding, construction, electrical, etc... Thanks ahead of time for any help that you can give me in this endeavor.

Any preferences on where you might like to live? That might help us to offer you better advice.

Do you have a budget? How long might you like to stay? Would you like to travel to an English speaking country?

Of the trades that you mention, in many places the way that you learn those skills is to approach a job/construction site that is under way and ask if they need some help. At first, you will be assigned grunt work while you are tested out to see just hard hard you are willing to work. Close attention will be paid to how reliable you are, friendly, responsible and quickly able to follow directions. If you show that you are interested in learning something like welding, say so and they may be willing to help you learn the ropes.

If you don't have the language skills of the country where you plan to stay, this may be a more challenging task, as these skills require a vocabulary to understand them -- it isn't all show and tell. Even if you just want to go to a trade school in another country, that will require some language skills, too.

Sounds like it could be fun and a great way to meet new people. Good luck! Smile
