Holds PhD in Packing

I will be in Cork for 2-3 days in early June.

I really need to find a CHEAP place to stay. I would prefer a B&B (almost 30...no more hostels) or something similarly affordable.

Besides I will have all my belongings as I will be returning home to the States from living in Prague for a year.

I will be quiet and mainly interested in walking the town taking pictures then having some pints at night...Guiness of course!

If you can help, please do!

Thanks, Ciao!

dude,

don't know any bnbs as such but I would recommend that you try the Murphys rather than the Guinness in Cork - tis the local brew down that neck of the woods. Prepare to have yer head completely wrecked by the accent - it goes straight thru you... Nice town apart from that though - I recommend Kinsale for a night - excellent seafood and beer down there.

Beamish is local as well!

But if you want fresh beer, go to Cork's microbrewery The Franciscan Well - great, micro-brewed Shandon Stout kicks Murphy's and Beamish's macro asses!

I second the Kinsale reccommendation. If you're there you could do worse than to stay at O'Donovans:

I'm not sure about the prices but the best place for b&bs near the city centre is up wellington road which is parrallel to macurtain street across the river from merchants quay and the north end of Patricks street. There are a few hostels around here too such as sheilas and bru which are quite popular. Another good spot for B&Bs is the western road but it's a five or ten minute walk from the city centre and may be slightly more expensive.

I don't know a place for you to stay but -- remember to ring the bells of Shannon and go the pub next door. They give you free sandwiches with a pint or two. Have fun!

if your on the hill side of the river turn your back to the town centre and keep walking it has a sign post outside and is in what looks like someones courtyard.

Yes all the best one are up Wellington Road, very close to the city too. And whoever said the accents will go through your head isn't joking. I'm Corkonian through and through and even I can't handle the accent!
