Holds PhD in Packing |
Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in the Shannon area? Something in the lower price range would be good.

Lost in Place |
Skip the hotel idea. Take an airport bus to Sixmilebridge (3 euro) and stay at the Jamaica Inn hostel. It's the nicest hostel I stayed at in Ireland, simply because it's rural, quiet, and very clean. I've stayed several times and only once was there anyone else in my dorm. The last time I stayed there, there was a school group and the owner offered me a private room for the same price right off the bat, just so I wouldn't have to deal with the kids.
There's a kitchen that serves breakfast inside the hostel as well. It's pretty popular with folks in the area, so it's a good place meet some people. If you spend money freely, there's a hotel right in front of the airport, but their cheapest room was 90 euro last time I was there. I stayed there the night before my flight and it was really nice, but I paid with money I made on a farm, so I didn't really feel the loss. If you have the time, take the bus. |
