Hello! So, after wanting to travel (live?) in Ireland since I was . . 8, I am finally going (now 25) with my girlfriend and our two daughters, June 8 - 23.

Sooo . . .

Our plan is to arrive in Dublin, stay a few nights and head up to Belfast for a night or two, then see our friends who live near a place called castlerock for 3 nights, then head down to Galway, try to go to county clare and visit an amasing bellydancer / costume maker, and back to Dublin for 2-3 nights.

Suggestions on fam friendly Hostels / inexpensive family lodgings / places with family discounts would be awesome.

also - rent a car or use Bus/Train? pro/con/cost/experienced suggestions welcome!!

thanks a ba-jillion!

Hi there,

Glad to hear someone remembering to cross the border into Northern Ireland when they plan an Irish trip Smile

I say you should definitely hire a car but try to avoid driving around Dublin. The roads all through Ireland are good, and its a good way to see the countryside.

Ireland isn't really all that big so if you have a car then nowheres more than a couple of hours drive away.

As for what to see it depends what your into. Personally I intend to do a tour of Irish castles sometime soon.
