I've checked all the usual suspects
expedia, hostelworld, lastminute it seems like I'm going to struggle I'm just wanting a room which is pretty central with a double bed for 2 people for 2 nights Sat & Sun on 8th Dec 07 Am I asking too much can anyone recommend a hostel or hotel |

Really central, that's not an easy find...Dublin's an expensive place. After a bit of poking around with google, I found An Glen B&B, which looks like it will fit the bill at €35/person per night, and appears to be very central, and you get a full irish breakfast to boot.
A couple other options were this place in Dublin 3 - longish walk to the center, but not too far to do, and it is close to a dart station - and this one, in Dublin 6 which is probably a little closer to the center, but their prices are variable, so whether it fits your budget depends on whether early December qualifies for the higher rates or not. |

that bnb is on gardiner street which is a pretty rough area. It runs parallel to o'connell street so you are pretty much in the centre of the city I would heavily recommend getting a taxi back to this place - walking it would be a pretty uncomfortable potentially risky endeavour. I would recommend more trying to find a place on the south side of the liffey where the majority of the shopping/drinking areas are.

Ah, yes, well, that would be one detail that google can't really help with. I have been to Dublin, but haven't spent enough time to know where the areas to avoid are.

camden delux is in a nice part of town. The nearest tram stop is 50 yards from the front door so you can use that to get into stephens green - though its just a 10 minute walk away.
The street the hotel is on is actually the best for nightlife in the city. Bars like the village, anseo and whelans come highly recommended if you are into music, There are also a few quality old man pubs aswell - cassidys. I would seriously recommend you spend your drinking/social time here rather than temple bar. Alot of people avoid it like the plague, its very corny and very expensive (basically a tourist trap). A pint of guinness costs alot more there than elsewhere. Wander from around stephens green to merrion square a take a look in at trinity college which is lovely. There is so much in that area, far more authentic than the plasticity that is temple bar... |

Lost in Place |
We stayed at O'Neill's Pub & Victorian Townhouse last year, and the cost was 120 E per night for two people in a double room --- I am not positive though, but prices may have gone up due to its popularity. It is in a fabulous area --- about five minute walk to O'Connell Street, five minute walk to Temple Bar, and five minute walk to Grafton Street and Trinity College.
The rooms are very simple, but clean, with a small bed, nightstands, and tiny bathroom. The breakfasts were decent. The one drawback is the noise outside of the room, because it is right next to a train station and on a busy street over a pub. If you can stand the noise during the night, I highly recommend the hotel. The website is: http://www.oneillsdublin.com/ |

The main promoters websites are here
www.mcd.ie www.aikenpromotions.com/ You picked the perfect hotel for gig going in the city. Tripod, Crawdaddy, The Village and Whelans are all within a mute asses roar of your accommodation. Anseo is closer still and is one of the best bars in town for music, the djs in there are excellent a quick google search for any of the above should sort you out, all the sites have their own listings so finding out whats on should be a cinch. |
