This site looks like it has a lot of opportunity for budding travel writers. If you have written for BootsnAll,can you give me your impressions? They seem pretty neat!

Thanks

BootsNAll is a cool site, and writing for it is great because you can write whatever you fancy. And, the more people that write, the more information there is to plan my trips with!

Stacy's kinda hit it dead-on (and thanks for the kind words, too - we try!). We try to give our writers as much leeway as possible; Chris and I handle the content, and if we had an editorial policy (can't say that we do, really), it'd pretty much boil down to 'the writer knows what he/she is talking about. We're just here to add HTML tags.' And that's the gist of it.

At the same time, any time our writers have questions, we try to be there and help out, and whenever we can help with other things - say, getting a press pass for something you'd like to do content on - all you gotta do is ask.

I hope that our site is giving you guys some good information. To repeat the original poster, what do you think of the content on BootsnAll? Is it a good place for writers to try to get their work published?

The great thing about having hundreds of people contribute articles is not only the stories, but attitudes and different writing styles. At the end of the day who's to say what's better, a gramatically perfect description of Paris or a 'balls out' guide to Costa Rica?

The great thing here is we have people who have been there and had adventures and are willing to give no holds barred accounts of what they did.

For a beginning travel writer I think BootsnAll is a great testing ground for a piece.

I like that I can write whatever I want just short of gratuitous profanity......which I am prone to do.......and, bootsnall is the base for anything that I have sold......I just got back to the States so my freelance career has just started....but I got a little work when I was in Costa Rica and now that I am actively marketing myself to magazines....I use one of my boots article in my clips and got offers to redo a boots article for a magazine. However, if I hadn't had the boots clip in the beginning, then I wouldn't have had anything to present for other freelance assignments. I would have been screwed. Write for free, at least in the beginning.
