emperor, those are 2 awesome and accurate quotes.

There's another truism often kicked around: "Write what you know." I thought I'd mention it, because it's shite! A good reply to that phrase that I've heard, is "Write what you know, and you'll never learn anything."

"Write what you can learn."

And keep that bullshit detector handy - you'll find that it comes in handy for far more than just writing!
