I’m a researcher at the Universities of Brussels (Belgium) and Cardiff (UK) working on travel narratives and style and I’m currently (and rather desperately) trying to recruit a daunting one hundred volunteers for my PhD research. I need to find (a whole horde of) native speakers of English willing to write a piece of travel writing for me of minimum 500 (preferably 1000) words. As regards content and style they get complete carte blanche: they can write about anything they want in whatever way they want. I don't want to cramp their style in any way. I just want them to pick a (factual not fictional) travel or holiday story and decide on a way to tell it (and I don't want them to rack their brains over this, they should just set about writing the thing and shouldn't think too much about it or as one of my informants put it: 'just relax sphincter and release a burst of half-remembered logorrhea'.)

Hi, this sounds daunting but not impossible. Have you seen our discussion on edit buddies. Easiest for you to join this group, ask the people who posted there to send your their stuff. But, in turn I guess constructive feedback would be required from you. will this work for you?

Do you want just one piece per person? Is there a deadline?

maybe what u can do is to check out all the travel blogs that are out there and see if those folks would be interested in giving u their material.
