Or has it?

Do you find you are more creative and can rattle out page after page after a few drinks?

I find after a couple of beers I'm running hot. It's all crap, but it's a lot of crap and at the time it feels good.

Does wine help you? Whisky?

No. What helps is hard work, with a dose of curiosity and inspiration.

I definitely think alcohol (and whatnot) has helped me. Mark Twain supposedly said, "Write drunk, edit sober." I'm sure this doesn't work for everyone, but I find I often come up with more creative twists on ideas after a drink or two. Not all of these ideas make it into the final versions, but many of them do. I wish I was drunk right now, in fact. Trinque

I also find that I come up with my best ideas when I'm doing something other than sitting behind a keyboard. I guess it also depends on exact the sort of thing you are writing, but many famous writers were also famous drunks.

Alcohol has provided me with many find story lines, and I believe I've made more money on those stories than I spent bailing myself out of jail.
