Hello all,

I think I have a pretty good story and at some point would really like to share with everyone. I'm just not sure who to go to and how to accomplish this goal.

I am 23 years old and was born in Bogota, Colombia. My Colombian mother and family could not care for me and put me up for adoption. A few weeks later, a family from Connecticut (who already had adopted a boy from peru...my brother) came to get me. This is now my family. My older brother is Peruvian and was adopted as an infant as well. He is now 25, has a form of autism called Aspergers Syndrome and still lives with my parents. A few years later, my mother was able to have her own biological son; my younger brother, 20, gay, and currently in college.
Last year I decided to travel to Central America to learn spanish and introduce myself to the latino culture. I spent a little under 4 months, traveling and taking classes. While I was there, I hired a private investigator to find my family in Colombia. After I returned home (California now!), I recieved a call that they had located my biological mother. Since then, we have exchanged videos, pictures, and emails. A few weeks ago, the private investigator located my father and snuck some pictures of him. He still does not know I exist.
I am leaving in a couple weeks for South America. A friend and I will begin our adventure in Argentina and travel through Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, and Costa Rica. When I am in Colombia, I will meet my family for the very first time. We are bringing a video camerca to document the entire trip and I will be writing in a travel log throughout the way.

I would love to share this story with fellow adoptees, anyone involved in the adoption triad, and of course fellow travelers!

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!!
Thanks Smile

Hi Jenna, that sounds really exciting! You should definitely think about writing a blog (they can be hosted by Bootsnall or outside blogging services). It allows people to share your experiences directly and it makes it easier to edit articles/stories later on, based on your entries.

There are many places where you could publish your story, including this very site Smile Some leads for travel writing/resources for writers can be found here.
