Anybody been to Beijing the end of December? I'm planning a trip at that time & I'm concerned about the weather. Coming from sub-tropical Houston, Texas I'm a little nervous about encountering sub-freezing temps! Any advice? Thanks

I was in western China in January a few years ago and it was bloody cold. Bejing on the other hand, is on the east coast and shouldn't be as bad. Here is the average weather forecast for beijing:

That's right. It is right up there next to Mongolia which is hugging sibera. Also, the amount of air pollution can be overwhelming. Just be prepared, dress warmly, etc.

I have just returned from Beijing and it was cold but easily do-able. I was going through Mongolia and Russia at -35 degrees and I thought I wouldn't cope either. Just take a warm hat, scarf, thermals and a great pair of gloves - mittens are best as fingers keep each other warm. The best bit is learning to walk on the icy streets. Very slippery...

happy travels...
