It's "a real book", and it's free not because it's bad, but because I'm a seriously overpaid computer programmer, even by spoiled Norwegians' standards.

You can get it for free from bjornfree.com, so you have nothing to lose by giving it a shot. #8D)

It's a travel book, of course. Although it's meant to be read as a funny novel, there are also heaps of tips for independent travelers, sometimes on and sometimes between the lines.

The book is sort of a 3-in-1 thing, as three journeys are covered;

1) While backpacking through southern South America, suddenly there's a way to get to Antarctica by boat for a reasonable price. I of course jumped at it, and the journey turned out to be quite the event for a person prone to motion sickness... Oh, and don't miss out on the penguins!

2) Traveling through Southern Africa, riding ostriches, seeing a moonbow, encountering the howling skunkbutt cockroach, and more.

3) Surviving a month on and along the Trans-Siberian Railway, from Vladivostok to Moscow. The Russians did not amuse me, which ironically probably will amuse you.

I very much welcome comments and reviews!

Thank you,

Bjørn

By free, you mean that we can download it for free, yes?

How cool that Peter Moore gave you a shout-out from his blog!

Yes, free download, not free dead trees. I may be overpaid, but not to the degree that I'm able to send out physical books to everyone who would want one. #8D) I'm sorry if I caused any confusion about that.

He's definitely a nice guy, who knows all too well that it's not easy to transfer from being "just" a traveler with a travel journal to being a travel writer.
