I really learnt a lot from Jen's comments.

1) Start with action, go straight to the point
2) Build up about the main character
3) Describe the surrounding
4) The punch line, draw it out.

Well, these points were specific to my story, which I hope everyone will get to read soon, but these same tips may hold good for several other stories.

Thanks, Dusty! And also to everyone who submitted stories. I just got one today and I have to let you know that the offer was over as of Xmas Eve. I still haven't gotten back to all 20some of the ones that turned them in and I'm pressed to finish my next book in three weeks.
